Act 1 Scene 2
A wounded soldier tells how Macbeth had killed the rebel Macdownald and then, with Banquo, had fought off an attack from the Norwegians who were allied with the rebels.
Rosse arrives and reports that Macbeth has defeated the Norwegians and taken the rebel Thane of Cawdor prisoner. Duncan sentences Cawdor to death and transfers his title to Macbeth.
